CONTROVERSY COMPUTERS AT AL-KAUSAR’S LIBRARY

Sometimes we need another source when we are studying. In Al-Kausar, there is a library which is providing many kind of source that will help us when we are studying in this school. The facilities of Al-Kausar’s library are completed. We have interviewed the head of the Al-Kausar’s library. She said, “We try to give you different choice of reading. You can also search information from the internet. We also provide some brochure, newspaper, maps, and many thing information sources.”
But, we will talk about computer and internet in Al-Kausar’s library. At first, there are 36 computers available in the library. But, some computer was broken. And now, there just 30 computers available for boys and for girls. Al-kausar has about 250 students (JHS and SHS). It is not balance between the computers and the total student of Al-kausar. We have interviewed some of students, they said that the total computer in the library is not much and not balance with the total of the students. Sometimes they had to fight to get the computer. Whereas, the assignment from the teacher should be done by computer. Like make the powerpoint, create some articles, and send to teacher’s mail. They also said that the best solution is to allow them to bring laptop.
But it is not the same as Mrs. Rahma’s opinion. Mrs. Rahma thinks that the total of computers is enough. And if some of student broken the computer, they will service as soon as possible. Al Kausar’s library will not add more computers, because there are other sources that can be used by student such as books, novel, magazine, CD, etc. They also are going to promote books. “If in the next year we’ll get extra students, we will add some computers maybe”, said Mrs. Rahma.

Most of students think that computers become one of things that makes student do not feel bored. With all activities in Al-Kausar which is makes them very busy, maybe internet is the one can make them a little forget about their busy. Computers and internet also can help them to search many kind of information. They said that computers and internet helped them to communicate with people outside. So, although we are studying at boarding school and not allowed to buy electronics like handphone, laptop or modem, we are not outdated from outside world with using computers at Al-Kausar’s library as good as well.
